Straight after watching Bourne Trilogy (Bourne Identity, Bourne Supremacy and Bourne Ultimatum), I’m feeling relaxed, happy, content and thrilled. I eat, sleep and drink movies. And yesterday’s Delhi 6 experience had left me frustrated. Matt Damon’s movies were a treat after the void that our so called full of ‘metaphors’ movie had left me with. At least these movies didn’t pretend they had metaphors. They are just classy piece of adventure. They don’t claim to serve social purpose and give half baked message.
So now critics are out and so is Amitabh Bachchan defending Delhi 6 which will earn good money at box office but it seems to fail as good cinema because it tries too hard in a wrong direction. Sadly, Abhishekh’s movies still need a cameo by his father, no matter how unnecessary and stupid they turn out to be.
And it is perfectly okie to like Delhi 6 if you have liked it, but why are those people going around explaining everyone that it is a movie with layer and symbols and metaphors and blah. We get it. We also wish that the ‘layered’ meanings were well woven. And yeah, Abhishek Bachchan has achieved a world record today, I wonder if there is a metaphor hidden in that action as well.
And yeah, before I slip into sweet sleep, great wishes to Rahman. No matter what we debate about Slumdog and validation of Oscars and if the movie deserves this or is worth of that, all I hope for is to wake up to the news of his victory.
