India doesn’t have the concept of late night chat shows that are more about promoting movies, plays, shows and all that jazz, garnished with some stand up comedy. Generally the guests are either mocked at, made fun of, or have to take part in the banter and laugh at themselves and everything else. Anchors making fun of guests is an unsaid rule…

Shekhar Suman did a decent effort with Movers and Shakers years back. But eventually nothing like that could stick to Indian TV which is more prone to bouts of reality shows and melodramatic sagas these days…The shows of Farhan Akhtar or Farah Khan or all those talks shows from news and life-style channels have a pretty different format. I wonder now that promoting movies has become a regular thing, a show like Movers and Shakers could do better…

A few years back it was a very interesting experience to watch Aishwarya Rai on David Letterman where he tried to mock Indians living with their parents after growing up and she practically shut him up by saying at least Indians don’t have to take appointments with their parents either..
And now just two days back, there was Shahrukh Khan, on Jonathan Ross, and it was a lot of fun to watch. The man knows how to laugh at himself and be relaxed..and many of their lot don’t know how to hold the fort as SRK does here…
I used to be a sucker for SRK interviews back as a teenager. Past three-four years have been quiet and not so happening. I was wondering if he has lost it. But it was just a matter of right timing. He is still what he used to be. And above all, his wit makes him the winner, no matter how well his film does, or what kind of controversies he is in…
