My January ended with:image

We’ve seen so many stilettos on book covers, especially on the so called chic-lit, since The Devil wears Prada, that when i picked up Love etc. from the library, my first instinct was, Barnes can’t be mocking it all. He is way above all that. Turns out he actually is unintentionally mocking a lot of love stories. And they may have made a less than mediocre movie based on this story, Barnes’ book is superlative.

Love etc. is a kind of sequel to Talking it Over. That’s next in line now after I finish Ruth Prawer Jhabwala’s Heat & Dust. I’ve already read what happens after Talking it Over, but the beauty of good literature – perhaps just like in life – is that the sequence simply doesn’t matter.
