or is it simply about the reader’s state of mind and timing? As a teenager I was fascinated with Joanne Harris’ Chocolat, and even the movie (thanks to one Johnny Depp) was seen repeatedly.
I recently picked up the book just to savour some old memories, but it didn’t strike that chord. Then I tried to watch the movie, and it felt outdated. I wonder if the timelessness wasn’t part of its charisma or perhaps too much reading is taking its toll. Then i wonder, is there something called too much reading? I think not.
